2008 Dates for Big Cleaning
It is a chinese tradition to close a year
and start off with fresh new energy with a big scale spring cleaning
(sweeping). It is a day to either preserve the good luck, get
rid of the bad luck and invite new luck for the new year. If a
big scale cleaning is not conducted, everyone living in that particular
household will feel lethargic and emotionally cluttered in the
new year. Normally, one could follow some rules depending on individual's
situation:
Situation 1: If one had enjoyed good harvest, happy moments and
generally a fruitful year, they should start to sweep from the
maindoor inward into the house. This is to retain positive energy.
Situation 2: If one had suffered from a bad year, sad moments
and losses, they should start to sweep from an inner corner of
the house diagonal to the maindoor and sweep outwards towards
the maindoor.
Situation 3: If one wants to start everything over again from
square one (irrespective of good or bad year experienced), they
can start sweeping from inner part
of the house to the maindoor and sweep outwards towards the maindoor.
In this case, they should choose a BREAK DAY in particular and
the most suitable to do this is on 1 Feb 2008.
