The nine pronged vajra has an axial center
prong and eight curved outer prongs which are directionally positioned
in the four cardinal directions and four intercardinal directions
at both ends. The eight prongs collectively symbolize the eight
consciousness and the Buddha's Eightfold Noble Path. The central
and four upper prongs represent the Five Buddhas.
